Smoky Mountain Children's Home in Sevierville, Tenn., has dedicated its renovated Tennessee Cottage after Tennessee Church of God congregations raised $200,000 to finish the work, Faith News Network reported about two months ago without giving the date of the ceremony. The effort was led by Administrative Bishop Dr. Tim Hill and Paula Hill.
The cottage went from four bedrooms to eight and from two bathrooms to four. Every wall was replaced with concrete-based drywall, and the work also brought new flooring, kitchen cabinets and appliances, fire-rated windows and a new security system. Jason Buckley XTreme Building and Renovating, LLC led the project, which started early in the year.
T. J. Tallent of Tallent Construction donated a $30,000 roofing project. He and his wife, Missy, attended the dedication with the Hills; Dr. Walt Mauldin and Tammie Mauldin, the home's executive directors; and Dr. Shane Smith, its business and records director.
“We are marking this day as a win-win and are so excited to complete the renovation of the Tennessee Cottage,” said Tammie Mauldin, who handles cottage fundraising.
The DelMarVa-DC, Ohio and Kentucky cottages have already been renovated. The South Georgia cottage is under reconstruction, and the Alabama cottage is next to be completed, according to the report.
