Privacy

Last updated October 27, 2026

We remember your settings (like your town, text size, and what's new) on your own device. We don't track you across the web, use advertising cookies, or sell your data.

What stays on your device

To make the site easier to use, your browser keeps a few small notes in its own storage on your phone or computer. They are never sent to us:

  • the town, ZIP or spot you picked for the Church Map and Go to Church Now (30 days), and where you left the map
  • your text size and dark or light colors
  • when you last visited, so we can mark stories that are New since then
  • which stories you have read, so they look a little lighter in the lists
  • where you stopped in a video and your volume
  • your calendar and meetings filters, and whether you closed the welcome note or installed the app

You can clear them any time with this button, or by clearing this site's data in your browser.

What we do not do

  • No advertising cookies, no ad networks, no tracking pixels.
  • We do not follow you to other websites, build a profile of you, or sell or trade anything about you.
  • No accounts or sign-ins. You never have to give us your name or email to read the news.

Visit counts

We count page visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not follow you from site to site. It tells us how many people read a page, not who they are.

When you send us something

  • Ask the Watchman: your question goes to our server and to the AI service that writes the answer (Anthropic). We do not keep the chat; it starts fresh each time.
  • Prayer requests and suggestions you send are kept for our editors for up to 120 days. A prayer request is shown publicly only if our editors approve it, and we ask for first names only.
  • Go to Church Now can use your phone's location if you allow it. That is worked out on your phone to find nearby churches; we do not store it.
  • To stop abuse, our server counts how many questions or forms come from each internet address for a day or two, then forgets it.

Other companies' services on our pages

Some features load from other companies, and they may see your internet address when they do: the Church Map uses Google Maps, videos you choose to play from YouTube come from YouTube, and our fonts come from Google Fonts. Links to other websites are covered by those sites' own privacy rules. Our site is hosted by Cloudflare.
