An initial investigation found that a mix of cleaning products set off a dangerous chemical reaction, Israel's Fire and Rescue Services said in a statement. Rescue crews evacuated students and staff from the building.

The Magen David Adom ambulance service said a 10-year-old child was in moderate condition and the others hurt were in good condition. The injured were taken to Hadassah Medical Center's Ein Kerem and Mount Scopus hospitals and to Shaare Zedek Medical Center. United Hatzalah volunteers were also at the scene.

Fire officials said the incident was under control and the hazard was gone, but more checks were needed before classes could resume. Police closed the school until Friday.

What we don't know yet: The name of the school, which cleaning products were mixed and how the mix happened have not been reported.
