The Church of God of Prophecy in Malaysia has been officially registered by the Malaysian government, giving the church legal recognition in the country after decades of ministry there, the denomination announced Nov. 4.
In the announcement, posted on the Church of God of Prophecy's international website by Philea Richard, the church said registration usually takes six months to a year, but its application was approved in about two months. The church credited “much prayer and the guidance of the Holy Spirit” for the quick approval.
The church said the recognition is more than paperwork. It described the registration as a testimony of God's faithfulness and of leaders and members who kept serving and worshiping in Malaysia over the years.
With a legal framework in place, the church said, COGOP Malaysia can keep developing its ministries, strengthen its congregations, train leaders and serve communities. The announcement noted that the Malaysian church is also in a season of leadership transition, and it thanked its newly appointed bishop, who was not named, for leadership that helped bring about the registration.
The Church of God of Prophecy is a Trinitarian Pentecostal and holiness denomination with its international offices in Cleveland, Tenn. The church has published a digital magazine about its work in Malaysia, linked below.
