Tens of thousands of people rallied in support of Israel in Lima, Peru, on Monday, Nov. 2, All Israel News reported. The gathering was organized by the Germany-based March of Life movement in partnership with the Worldwide Missionary Movement, with support from local Jewish and Christian organizations.

Gali Dagan, Israel's ambassador to Peru, addressed the crowd. “The best response to hate speech is a firm, courageous, and supportive voice,” Dagan said. “We cannot remain indifferent when intolerance and antisemitism manifest themselves again.”

The rally recalled the Hamas-led attack of Oct. 7, 2023, in which 1,200 people in Israel were murdered and 251 were taken captive to Gaza. All Israel News also noted two Peruvian diplomats, José Gambetta and José Barreto, who are credited with helping European Jews escape the Holocaust by issuing passports and visas to Peru.

According to the report, Peru has adopted the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance's working definition of antisemitism. Argentina signed the Isaac Accords with Israel earlier this year, while Brazil under President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has backed South Africa's case against Israel at the International Court of Justice.

“Every message counts,” Dagan told the marchers.

What we don't know yet: All Israel News did not give an exact crowd count, the route or venue of the march, or name the local churches and Jewish groups that took part. Watchman News has not independently confirmed the attendance figure.
