Pastor Steve Hill of Little Clifty Baptist Church in Glendale, Ky., who has organized mission trips for 25 years, preached Saturday and Sunday mornings at the host church, pastored by Robert Coleman. Hill said the Saturday service drew a standing-room crowd. “Saturday morning was the biggest crowd I've ever had,” he told Kentucky Today.

Volunteers came from Little Clifty, which sent 13 members, and from 12 Stones, Simpsonville Baptist, Sonora First Baptist Church and Ovesen Heights Baptist Church, along with groups from Florida and Tennessee. Team member Stephanie Grimes was among those counseling people after the services, according to the report.

The team served more than 400 people with food or clothing. It brought 230 food boxes worth about $60 each, more than $12,000 in all, plus coats, blankets, shoes and toys, which had been stored in a warehouse in Leitchfield, Ky. Hill said many of those who came had lost their jobs, and he listened and prayed with them.

“We've been going there for 15 years,” Hill said of the partnership with the Kimper congregation. “We figure if we share a little bit, the Lord will work.”

Several first-time volunteers want to return next fall, Kentucky Today reported. Little Clifty also takes a mission trip to Cary, Miss., each summer.
