Rescuers have recovered a second body from the building that collapsed in the Eastleigh area of Nairobi, Kenya, and at least 10 people are still believed to be trapped in the basement, Citizen Digital reported Wednesday, Nov. 4, as the search entered its 13th day.
Both bodies recovered so far are women, the report said. The National Police Service confirmed the second recovery about 24 hours before the update. Four survivors have been pulled alive from the rubble.
The two bodies are to be identified on Thursday, Nov. 5, at the Nairobi City Mortuary. Families who think one of the women may be a missing relative were asked to go to the mortuary for post-mortem examinations and DNA profiling.

Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja called for changes in the law so county governments can take legal action against people who break building rules. “We have formally written to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, and we hope our request will be considered,” Sakaja said. He said counties must be able to act against “rogue developers” who put lives at risk.
Kenya's Director of Public Prosecutions had already ordered criminal investigators to look into possible negligence or misconduct by officials, developers and builders, The Star reported last week.
What we don't know yet: The two women have not been publicly identified. Citizen Digital said the bodies were retrieved on Sunday and Tuesday, while The Associated Press and The Star reported the first recovery on Friday, Oct. 30. Last week officials counted 16 people missing; the new report says at least 10 are believed trapped in the basement, and it does not explain the difference. Officials have not said when the search will end.
