About 596 people made professions of faith and 52 were baptized on Tuesday, Oct. 27, at a UniteUS gathering outside the Mitchell Center on the campus of the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Ala., according to CBN News figures reported by ChurchLeaders and Christianity.com.

ChurchLeaders, citing CBN, said nearly 3,500 people attended and that some students were baptized in the beds of pickup trucks. Pastor Travis Johnson, lead pastor of Pathway Church on the Gulf Coast, shared video of himself baptizing a young woman named Emily in a truck bed.

UniteUS founder Tonya Prewett and Grant Troutt brought messages, and the ministry Circuit Riders led worship, Christianity.com reported. Author and Bible teacher Jennie Allen also spoke, according to ChurchLeaders. “RIGHT NOW there are HUNDREDS of students coming forward to give their life to Jesus,” Johnson said in a video from the night.

Prewett put the count higher in an Instagram post: “Over 600 students made decisions for Jesus! What a God!” UniteUS describes itself on its website as “a movement of college students united to lift the name of Jesus.”

The Mobile stop followed a UniteUS outreach at Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C., earlier in October, where CBN News reported more than 700 students made decisions for Christ and about 100 were baptized right after the event.

CBN News reported that the next outreach will be held at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn., on Tuesday, Nov. 10. UniteUS lists a free “Unite Nashville” registration on its website; the start time and exact location on campus had not been posted on the pages we could read.

What we don't know yet: The decision and baptism counts come from the ministry and from Christian outlets; Watchman News has not independently confirmed them.
