Churches Called to Pray for the Persecuted on Sunday, Nov. 1
The International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church falls on the first Sunday of November. Free resources are ready for congregations.
Congregations around the world will set aside Sunday, Nov. 1, for the International Day of Prayer for the Persecuted Church, held every year on the first Sunday of November.
Ministries that serve persecuted believers offer free resources for churches. Open Doors US is asking churches this year to focus on Christians in the Middle East, and Open Doors UK has released a free prayer pack tied to its “Arise Africa” campaign. More materials are available at idop.org, run with the World Evangelical Alliance.
The day comes amid a steady stream of reports of believers jailed, attacked or driven from their homes for their faith, from Sudan and Nigeria to India and Myanmar.
Churches can take part simply: name a country or a prisoner during the pastoral prayer, read a short report from the persecuted church aloud, or set aside time in a small group to pray through the week's news.
“Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.”
Hebrews 13:3, KJV
