Kentucky Baptist volunteers knocked on more than 400 doors in Richmond to promote Hope for Central Kentucky, a week of evangelism events set for Nov. 3-8, Kentucky Today reported.

The centerpiece is a Nov. 4 crusade with evangelist Ken Freeman at the Eastern Kentucky University Center for the Arts. The events are being held ahead of the Kentucky Baptist Convention's annual meeting the following week.

Fifteen volunteers took part in the Saturday canvassing effort, which had been moved after bad weather threatened the original date. Among them was Paul Jorgensen, bivocational pastor of Allansville Baptist Church in Winchester, who visited more than 40 homes.

Jorgensen told Kentucky Today he is praying for 300 people to be saved at the crusade. He said that while working a fence repair job he talked with two men who said they wanted to put their faith in Christ, and he invited them to First Baptist Church in Richmond.

He hopes the effort will renew evangelism among churches in the Boone's Creek Baptist Association. “It's a great opportunity for our churches to get excited,” he said, urging pastors to attend and carry that enthusiasm home.
