Here Am I

Thursday, November 5, 2026

“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”

Isaiah 6:8, KJV

Isaiah did not volunteer first. He was undone first. Before Here am I came Woe is me. He saw the Lord high and lifted up, heard the seraphim cry “Holy, holy, holy,” and in that light he saw his own unclean lips. Then the coal from the altar touched him, and his iniquity was taken away.

That is the order of every true call. We are not sent because we are impressive. We are sent because we have been cleansed. The man who has never been broken in the presence of God will serve out of his own strength, and he will either burn out or puff up. The man who has felt the coal serves out of gratitude.

Notice that God did not point at Isaiah. He asked an open question: Whom shall I send? The Lord is still asking it. He does not drag people into His work. He waits for hearts that have seen Him clearly enough to want to go.

And Isaiah did not ask where, or how long, or what it would cost. He simply said, send me. That is consecration in two words.

Has the Lord been asking you something? Do not wait until you understand the whole assignment. Say Here am I today, and let Him fill in the rest.
