DAILY DEVOTIONAL
The Ministry of Stillness
Monday, November 2, 2026
“Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth.”
Psalm 46:10, KJV
This psalm was not written in a quiet place. Read the verses around it: the earth removed, the mountains carried into the sea, the heathen raging, kingdoms moved. And in the middle of all that noise God says, Be still.
Stillness is not idleness. It is the deliberate act of a soul that quits trying to run the universe. Most of our anxiety is simply this: we have taken on a job that belongs to God. We lie awake managing outcomes we cannot control and carrying burdens He never handed us.
Know that I am God. The knowledge comes in the stillness, not before it. We say, “Lord, show me You are in control, and then I will be still.” He says, “Be still, and then you will know.” Faith goes first; the knowing follows.
And look at His confidence: I will be exalted. Not “I hope to be,” or “I might be if things go well.” The nations will bow. The earth will see His glory. Whatever is shaking your world this Monday morning has not shaken His throne.
Before the phone and the work and the worry start, give Him five silent minutes. Do not fill them with requests. Just be still and let Him be God.
